Hide Varicose Veins with Makeup

varicose veinsVaricose veins aren’t just unsightly; they are a pain and can be a sign of a serious medical condition. It is important that you get your varicose veins checked out and properly treated by a doctor. However, in the meantime, there are things you can do to reduce the appearance of varicose veins without having to wear long pants, dresses, and skirts all year long. For those of you who live in warmer climates, like Florida, or enjoy going to the beach, you shouldn’t feel like you need to hide your legs. One answer to this problem is to hide varicose veins with makeup.

Although it isn’t a permanent fix, makeup can be a great way to conceal varicose veins easily.  Below, we have shared some tips and steps you can use and apply makeup to correct and reduce the discolored appearance of varicose veins on your skin.

–          Look for heavy-duty makeup foundations that are made to cover varicose veins, scars, stretch marks, and other dark blemishes.

–          Choose a waterproof product so you can wear it outside on a warm day without any trouble.

–          For a realistic look, apply the foundation all over your entire leg(s). You can blend with your fingers, makeup sponge, or foundation brush. If you’re legs start to look a bit pale and pasty, apply a bronzer on top for a more realistic tone to make your skin.

–          For extra coverage on the darker veins, apply a concealer with a brush on each vein. It may be hard to reach all the veins on your legs, so either ask for help or just try your help to cover and blend it all.

–          Use a finishing powder to create a sleek, natural look on the legs; you don’t want your legs looking greasy or shiny. This powder also locks the foundation in place.

–          Self-tanning lotions are another good way to hide veins. Make sure to spread the tanner evenly or streaks will appear on your legs.

–          Apply all products with an up and down sweeping motion.

Using makeup, unfortunately, isn’t a long-term solution for your varicose veins. Makeup can’t reduce pain or health risks. If you are ready to get rid of your varicose veins for good, it’s time to reach out to a vein specialist. Dr. Zuzga of West Florida Vein Center can meet with you and decide the best treatment options for you. To book a consult with the doctor, call 727-712-3233 or click here.
