Everything You Wanted to Know About Venefit™ Targeted Endovenous Therapy
Before undergoing any medical procedure it is important to understand what will take place, what you need to do to prepare as well as follow up, and how to help achieve your very best possible results.
Though Dr. Mark Zuzga at West Florida Vein Center will, of course, go over all of this with you and is happy to answer all of your questions at the time you schedule your procedure we know it’s hard to retain all of the information presented.
Here are the answers to the most commonly asked questions in written form so you may refer back to them as needed.
What is Venefit™ targeted endovenous therapy?
This minimally invasive treatment uses radiofrequency energy bursts to treat chronic venous insufficiency resulting in varicose veins. Your physician will insert the tiny ClosureFast catheter into the damaged vein causing them to retreat and seal themselves closed. The blood will then reroute itself to healthy working veins. Venefit™ differs from traditional vein stripping in that it is far less invasive, reducing the chance of bruising or pain. A local anesthetic is given and most patients report little or no pain.
How long does the Venefit™ procedure take?
The Venefit™ procedure takes approximately 45 to 60 minutes. Expect to spend 2 to 3 hours total at the office pre and post-treatment all included.
After the Venefit™ procedure how long after until I may return to normal activities?
The average is 1 to 2 weeks before our patients have reported being able to resume all of their daily actives post-procedure.
Is Venefit™ suitable for everyone?
A complete ultrasound examination by Dr. Mark Zuzga is needed to confirm suitability at the West Florida Vein Center of Safety Harbor Florida. Statistics show that many patients with varicose veins or CVI can be treated with the Venefit™ procedure successfully. Individual evaluation is needed to be sure. Please make an appointment for your personalized evaluation and recommendations.
Is Venefit™ effective?
It has been shown to be 93% effective.
Is Venefit™ covered by insurance?
Most insurance plans do pay for the Venefit™ procedure in part or in full. Please discuss your coverage with your insurance provider prior to seeking treatment.
