Why Choose Venefit™ Targeted Endovenous Therapy?

Why Choose Venefit™ Targeted Endovenous Therapy?

venefit safety harbor tampa bay dr mark zuzga D.O.This is the only minimally invasive segmental radiofrequency ablation treatment that uses RF energy to provide a uniform heat which contracts all collagen within the vein walls. This contraction causes them to collapse and seal. Once the route is closed, blood flow is redirected to healthy working veins.

The Venefit procedure allows for a quick, comfortable recovery improving the appearance of varicose veins.

Am I a Good Candidate for Venefit Therapy?

In a comparative study on the treatment of great saphenous reflux, the Venefit™ procedure delivered by the ClosureFast™ catheter demonstrated less pain, less bruising, and fewer complications than 980 nm laser ablation.

To determine if the Venefit procedure is right for you, we invite you to speak with one of our vein specialists.  The West Florida Vein Center of Safety Harbor, Florida in Tampa Bay. Call us at 727-712-32233 to arrange your screening.

What is the Venefit Procedure

The Venefit™ procedure is a minimally invasive treatment for varicose veins and Chronic Venous Insufficiency. During this procedure Dr. Mark Zuzga, D.O. will insert a Covidien ClosureFast™ Endovenous Radiofrequency Ablation Catheter to collapse and close enlarged leg veins. After the vein is sealed shut, blood then naturally re-routes to healthy veins.

What You Can Expect

Just below the knee, The ClosureFast™ catheter is inserted into the vein. This is done through a tiny incision. It is then guided by the use of ultrasound imaging, and Dr. Zuzga treats a 7 cm segment of vein with a 20-second burst of radiofrequency energy, causing the vessel to shrink around the catheter itself.  The catheter is then removed. Each section is treated until the entire length of damaged vein area has been sealed off.

This method delivers consistent heat to each area and temperatures do not exceed 120°C. The result is less bruising and a quick recovery.

The Advantages

Venefit is Minimally Invasive

This procedure eliminates the need for general anesthesia making it a safer choice. The procedure also results in little to no scarring.

The Best Recovery

The 2009 RECOVERY Study compared the experience of patients treated with the ClosureFast catheter and those treated with the 980 nm laser. The results:

  • Less pain, bruising, and complications
  • 4x faster recovery time
  • Venefit procedure allows patients to return to normal activity significantly faster than with vein stripping.

The Ultimate Outcome

Success rate on this treatment has been slotted at 93%. This statistic accounts for medical necessity as well as cosmetic usage.
