Venefit Procedure

Venefit™ Targeted Endovenous Therapy

We proudly offer the Venefit™ procedure, formerly known as the VNUS Closure™ procedure

We proudly offer the Venefit™ procedure, formerly known as the VNUS Closure™ procedure, for the treatment of varicose veins and CVI. The Venefit™ procedure is a minimally invasive segmental ablation treatment that utilizes radiofrequency (RF) energy to provide an even and uniform heat to contract the collagen in the vein walls, causing them to collapse and seal. Once the diseased vein is closed, blood will re-route itself to other healthy veins.
Venefit and ClosureFast are trademarks of a Covidien company.
  • Fact: The Venefit™ procedure allows for a quick, comfortable recovery and a return to everyday activities for the average patient, while also improving the appearance of varicose veins.
  • Fact: The Venefit™ procedure has been proven in clinical studies to have excellent long term effectiveness, with less pain and bruising than endovenous laser.
  • Fact: *A comparison of the patient experience between those treated with the Venefit ™procedure, using the Covidien ClosureFast™ Endovenous Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA) Catheter, and those treated with 980nm laser ablation.

How Does the Venefit™ Procedure Work?

  • #1: A local anesthetic is applied to numb the area that is being treated. Following this, the entire region will be thoroughly cleansed, sterilized, and shielded with a surgical drape. It might be comforting for you to know that the injection of the anesthetic is considered the most uncomfortable aspect of the procedure.
  • #2: Once the area is numbed, a minor, superficial incision is made in your skin to reach the affected vein. Your doctor will then introduce a small catheter powered by radio frequency, guided into position with the help of ultrasound imaging. While you may experience a mild sensation of pressure, it is not associated with pain.
  • #3: Dr. Zuzga will then address each segment with regular, steady emissions of radiofrequency energy that is free from discomfort. This heat prompts the collagen in the vein walls to shrink and cave in. Once the unhealthy vein collapses, blood flow naturally reroutes itself to healthier vessels. Over time, the impaired vein is gradually absorbed into the surrounding tissue.
  • #4: The treated area will be secured with an elastic bandage, negating the need for stitches. You can expect to get back to your normal activities within a span of 1-2 days post-treatment. However, most patients find themselves able to pick up their regular routine almost instantly after the procedure, experiencing minimal to no discomfort.

Treating the Many Symptoms of Varicose Veins with Venefit™ Closure

If you’re dealing with the issue of varicose veins, disturbed by their visual appeal, or anxious about your vein disorder’s advancement, it’s crucial to remember that there’s a wide array of treatment alternatives. For those with more sizeable varicose veins or those seeking a non-surgical substitute to vein stripping, Venefit™ Closure treatment might be the most suitable choice. If you identify with any of the symptoms listed below, Venefit™ Closure could be the right solution for you.

If you identify with any of the symptoms listed below, Venefit™ Closure could be the right solution for you:
  • Visible small veins that appear as thin lines, webs, or branches. They are usually red, purple, or blue.
  • Mild discomfort or aching around the affected area.
  • A feeling of heaviness or tiredness in the legs.
  • Itching or burning sensation at the site of the veins.
  • Swelling or throbbing in the affected area.
  • Nighttime leg cramps (Restless Leg Syndrome).
Chronic Venous Insufficiency (CVI) is a progressive medical condition that may worsen over time. As varicose veins progress to become CVI, other painful symptoms like leg swelling, skin damage and ulcers may occur. There are a number of factors that contribute to varicose veins and CVI, including pregnancy and heredity.

When the valves in your lower leg veins begin to deteriorate and suffer damage, they can allow blood to seep down and pool in the veins of your lower legs. This pooling can result in swelling and discomfort, marking the initial symptoms of venous insufficiency disease.

As time passes and the blood remains stagnant, the likelihood of developing blood clots and leg ulcers escalates. A blood clot that migrates to your lungs or brain can be life-threatening. Similarly, an untreated leg ulcer could necessitate the amputation of a leg, foot, or toe.

Your future quality of life hinges on addressing venous insufficiency as soon as you detect its early warning signs.

It’s important to note that having one or more of these risk factors does not guarantee that you will develop spider veins, but it does increase your chances.
